Summer Wrap Up

We've had a busy summer with several exciting events! Beau started a new school mid-June. It was a tough transition. After 6 weeks of crying everyday, he finally decided it was a pretty cool place. Now he loves it and looks forward to going, especially playing outside on the playground.

He went to the dentist for the 1st time and was a good little patient. He went to the eye dr. and wasn't such a great patient, but what 2 year old wants his eyes dilated?! We found out that Beau is far-sighted and needs glasses. It was a challenge finding glasses that fit such a little fellow. He's had them for 3 weeks now and I am SO proud of how well he is doing with them. He wears them all the time and they haven't slowed him down one bit!

The big news for our family was finding out that Beau is having a little SISTER! Bennett is expected to arrive Jan. 3. Beau is excited. When we first told him it was a girl, he cried and said he didn't want anything. But now he kisses my tummy and tells Bennett that he loves her. Makes my heart melt! He went with me to a dr. visit and "assisted" the dr. in listening to her heartbeat. He got to see the hospital helicopter take off while we were waiting. Of course, the helicopter made a much greater impression on him than hearing Bennett's heartbeat! ha!

Here a few pictures to wrap up the summer.

Summer Fun at the Lake

Beau is loving the water this summer! He jumps off the side like a pro and can kick and dog paddle himself where ever he wants to go. He's still not sure about putting his face in the water, but that will come soon enough. Here are some pics from our lake trips so far this summer.

Getting Gigi with the water gun

Tubing with NeeNee. He thought this was lots of fun, especially hitting the bumps!

Thinking about sliding. He is still not too sure about the slide; although, he has gone down it 3 times in a row...when I wasn't there to get pictures, of course.

Riding the SeaDoo with Mom

Hanging on the dock with his GiGi

Beau's friend, Finley, came to swim. Their dads pushed them around on the tube.

Da and Beau

This boat ride gets a thumbs up! He's been learning how to do thumbs up. Sometimes he sticks his finger up first then has to use his other hand to get his thumb up. I think he's about mastered it now!

We hit a milestone this week - Beau's last day at Teesee's. He's stayed with her since he was 3 months old. She has been such a blessing to us! He starts "big boy school" Monday at Noah's Ark.

Outdoor Adventures

Beau is 2-1/2 now. It's so hard to believe we are already halfway to 3! He's a mess these days. He can be so ornery one minute and so sweet the next. His vocabulary is amazing. For example, today while drinking some milk he said, "There's something delicious in this cup!" When Todd asked him if he could reach the moon, he said, "I think not. It's too far away." A scooter was parked at our house and he said, "Now that is something I have never seen before." When I got home from work the other day, he greeted me with "I'm so excited to see you! We've been worried bout you. Cause I love you so much." Now there's the sweet part that has me wrapped.

His latest "trick" is climbing out of his crib. I honestly can't believe he went this long before trying it. He's definitely testing his boundaries and our patience with this. He is so hard-headed! We are going to have to make plans for a big boy bed soon. He doesn't settle down at night easily. He'll spend an hour thinking up reasons to get up...he's thirsty, he needs to tell me a secret, he needs to tee tee in the potty (convenient timing considering he won't go in it during the day). My mom says I am paying for my raising when it comes to this bedtime battle.

We've spent a lot of time outside in the last few weeks. We took a trip to the Little Rock Zoo during Whitney's spring break and have spent weekends in the yard playing ball and riding Jeep, truck, or car. Here are a few pictures from our latest adventures.

Sweet smile from a happy boy playing at the park.

So tickled

He loved riding this horse.

My dare devil was not afraid of this very high slide.

Thank goodness NeeNee was right behind him. Riding the merry-go-round

I'm pretty good, ya know?!

Arkansas Post Road Trip

The weather was so nice last weekend that we had to get outside! We took a family road trip (plus our good friend Heath) to Arkansas Post. The mission of the day, at least for Beau, was to see where the alligators live. Beau is a good little road tripper already (his Da is training him early). As long as it's daylight and there are tractors, ducks, geese, and the occasional "big buck" deer to see along the way, Beau is quite content. Add "Uncle Heath's hot chips" to snack on and he's set for the day!

Looking for an alligator and throwing rocks in the pond.

Pointing out the geese

Time out to play in the leaves.

Taking a break along the way with my little man.

Big boy doesn't want to ride in the wagon...he wants to pull it himself!

Checking out the civil war cannon near the rifle pits. The barrel is authentic! (Beau liked to pretend it was a choo choo.)

Mission complete!

We saw 3 gators! So cool to see them in their natural habitat.
What a great day we had! I hadn't been to Arkansas Post since Todd and I were dating. That was the best date we ever had. Now it will be a special place to take our family!

Snow Day Pics

Better late than never! Here are a few pictures from the fun snow days we had in Jan.-Feb. Beau wasn't too sure about the snow at first, but after a play day, he started saying, "No is fun!" In other words, sNOw is fun!

Sledding behind the four-wheeler with Mama! Beau thought this was really fun. He didn't want to quit.

Driving his Jeep.

Whew! Time to come in and warm up!
