Sitting up all by myself!

Beau started sitting up all by himself this week! He loves to sit and play with his toys. He also proved to us finally that he can roll over from his back to his tummy. I had never seen him do it until this week, but I knew he was plenty strong enough. He has just been lazy! When he's on his tummy, he pushes his arms straight up like he's doing a push up. I am amazed at how strong he his. He's a stout little man! I forgot to post that we went for his 6 mo. check up week before last. He weighs 20 lbs. 5 oz. (90th percentile) and is 27-1/2 in. tall (75th percentile).
Drinking out of a cup is another favorite thing for Beau. He gets so excited when we let him have a sip of water from our cup. He stiffens his arms and legs when he's in his high chair and hears the ice hit the glass, because he is so excited. It's funny! We are having so much fun with our precious baby. He is such a happy boy, smiling all the time. That smile is the best thing in the world. It's the greatest way to wake up in the morning!

Beau's Baptism

Sunday was a special day for us. Beau was Baptized! Our family was there with us and we had a special lunch together following church. Beau was a trooper. He did great in church. During the Baptism he watched and listened intently to the preacher. It was as if he knew something special was happening. Then the preacher carried Beau around the sanctuary as the choir sang a song just for him. He sat up like a big boy and checked the congregation out. He made us so very proud!

Beau is 5 months old today! Wow- time is going by fast! We have been in our usual routine of work and going to Teesees. We went to Hot Springs a couple of weekends since I last posted. Todd and I got a much needed date to the races while Gigi and Whitney kept Beau. We are still having fun with Beau exploring new foods. He has now had bananas, applesauce, pears, peaches, sweet potatoes, and even prunes. He ate it all up with no problem. If you can't tell from his pictures, he is a big boy and a big eater! He loves to grab his feet and try to put his toes in his mouth. We think he is teething, because the drool has really picked up and everything goes straight to his mouth.

Yum Yum Bananas!

Beau started eating "solid" food this week. He had bananas and cereal the first few days and then applesauce. It was messy, but so much fun watching him try to figure out how to eat from the spoon. I think he really likes it!

Dallas Trip

Well, Beau and I survived our first road trip. He did great in the car! We only had to stop one time in Texarkana both ways. We stayed there longer than we normally would, so Beau could spend time out of the car seat. Otherwise, he slept the trip away. They won't allow strollers in the market building, so I hauled all 18 lbs. and 26 inches around in a front carrier. It was surprisingly easy to use. Beau was super good. I think he liked seeing the world from a taller vantage point! And there is certainly a lot of entertaining people and things at market! I took my camera, but the battery was dead, so I don't have any pics to share.

Oh, I forgot that I haven't posted anything since our 4 month check up. That's when I learned Beau is already 18 lbs. and 26 in. He's in the 97th percentile in both weight and height! He is a BIG boy! And we reached another milestone last week - he rolled over! Our baby boy is growing so fast!!

Happy New Year!

It's hard to believe it is already 2009, and Beau is 4 months old! Time really flies when you're having fun. This past week has been a big milestone for Beau and me. I went back to work and Beau started going to Teesie's (Ms. Teresa is our babysitter. All the kids call her Teesie). Aunt Whit was still home on Christmas break, so she helped us ease into it by keeping him at our house the first day and then 1/2 day the next. Beau did great. Teesie is so good, and Beau loves watching the "big kids." Beau is an active baby, so being around toddlers is exciting for him. It is much harder on Mom! But I did okay, too. No tears...at least not that anyone saw. :) Here is a picture of him on his first day at Teesie's.

On another note, Beau has really started paying attention to Barkley lately. He watches him and even laughed when Barkley licked him on the hand the other day. Here is a picture of Beau petting Barkley. This was the first time Beau really touched Barkely on his own. Barkley was a sweet dog, as usual. He just laid his head down and let Beau pull on his ear and nearly poke him in the eye!

Stay tuned for next week's report. We are going on our first road trip...all the way to Dallas!

Beau's 1st Christmas

We have had such a big week! Christmas started at Mamaw Hansen's house last Sunday. Beau got his first presents, and he really liked the pretty wrapping paper the best! He got to meet his cousins, Rhett and Ashley, and play with Aunt Carolyn and his great-grandma. Aunt Carolyn gave him the cutest little 1st Christmas outfit with his name on it.

We went to Aunt Terri and Uncle Roger's house for Christmas Eve. Beau had fun playing with his very own remote control from Pawpaw and DeeDee and a frog toy for his car seat from cousins Andrew and Nathan. We were sad that Nathan was sick and didn't get to play. We spent the whole day playing and opening bunches of presents.

We spent the night on Christmas Eve at Gigi and Daddy D's lakehouse. Santa Claus found Beau with no problem. He has been such a good baby that Santa brought lots of fun things! Beau loved his singing cow so much that we got to hear his first laugh! It was so exciting!!! I think I was more excited on Christmas morning than anyone. Having a baby sure has livened things up for us! We must have been really boring folks before Beau. Santa must have thought Barkley was a really good dog this year, too. He got a new comfy bed with his name on it. Todd's glad that he doesn't have to haul stuff for Barkley and Beau back and forth to the lake now.

Gigi's family came to Hot Springs Christmas afternoon. There were lots of people for Beau to entertain, and he did not dissappoint. He got MORE presents, including his very own Harley Davidson gear (that gift was actually to Daddy D and Beau) from Nana and Polky. It made for a great photo opt!
